The as-need basis modifications, coupled with the looming annexation, the city retained Hargis to develop an approach to stabilizing its current system, and coordinating disaster recovery approaches with neighboring municipalities while planning for future expansion.

Repurposing an existing building to serve as Microsoft’s high capacity software testing technology lab was an integrated process to complete the dual phased, 12-month design and construction schedule. The design team worked with the stakeholders to develop an approach to fulfill the 48-pod design, housing 24 server enclosures per pod.

Constructing a new facility to support the utility company’s operations, a tier II data center with supporting operations center, security room and offices were incorporated into the building. Understanding the time-sensitive and unique operating requirements of the spaces, Hargis’ leadership in design was complemented by our forethought in scheduling and planning the procurement of the long-lead items required to operate the facility.

Relied upon for district operations that serves over 55,000 staff, students and teachers, multiple system failures led to a system assessment and phased upgrades to coincide with the district’s budget cycle. Hargis programmed and engineered the upgrades in accordance to energy efficiency, redundancy and total cost of ownership objectives.

Providing network and electronic storage area space for a consortium of the state’s higher academic institutions and private industries, the renovated space was designed to support campus growth and local economic investment. It features Tier 2 redundancy per ANSI/TIA-942, utilizing a hot-cold aisle topology approach, 1 hour fire resistive construction and approximately 20 server enclosures with capacity to accommodate a future 20 enclosures.
